GASTAT-Pro is a portable blood gas analyser from Techno Medica that uses single-use sensor cards. It measures pH, pCO2, pO2, electrolytes (Na+, K+, Cl−, Ca2+) and Hct, and gives results within 45 seconds of sample injection.

Key specifications

  • Measures pH, pCO2, pO2, Na+, K+, Cl−, ionised Ca2+ and Hct, and also reports calculated values such as HCO3−, base excess and estimated sO2.
  • Blood gas and electrolyte results within 45 seconds of sample injection; the full cycle is 135 seconds (90 s calibration + 45 s analysis).
  • Sample: human whole blood, serum or plasma; sample volume over 90 µL.
  • Sensor card panels include P1 (pO2, pCO2, pH, Hct), P2 (adds Na, K, Cl, Ca) and P3 (adds Na, K). Cards keep 2 months at room temperature or 12 months refrigerated.
  • Portable unit of 1.0 kg (100 × 220 × 90 mm) that runs on 4 AA batteries (standard or rechargeable) or an AC adapter, with a colour touch LCD and a built-in 58 mm thermal printer.
  • Stores up to 5,000 results, with a USB interface.

GASTAT-700 series

The GASTAT-700 series from Techno Medica are fully automatic benchtop pH and blood gas analysers. The two models shown here share the same housing: the GASTAT-720 measures blood gases, electrolytes and haemoglobin, and the GASTAT-735aqc adds glucose, lactate, total bilirubin and a CO-oximetry panel, with automatic quality control. Both accept whole blood, serum, plasma and dialysate.

The ITEG6 is a thromboelastography (TEG) analyser from RENDER Biotech that assesses how well blood clots and how fibrinolysis proceeds. It covers standard, rapid and heparinase TEG, functional fibrinogen and platelet mapping. RENDER Biotech positions the current version, listed as ITEG6+, for medium and large hospitals.

Key specifications

  • Thromboelastography (TEG) tests the efficiency of blood coagulation and fibrinolysis, and is used in blood banks, laboratories, surgery and anaesthesiology.
  • Test menu: standard TEG, rapid TEG, TEG with heparinase, functional fibrinogen, and platelet mapping (AA, ADP, AA+ADP).
  • Compact system with a built-in computer and a 7-inch colour touchscreen, plus expert software for data processing and storage.
  • Uses independent reaction cups, which the manufacturer says lower running costs, and a triple quality-control scheme for result reliability.
  • Stated precision for the R, K, Angle and MA parameters: CV < 10%.
  • Dimensions 67 × 74.7 × 61 cm and weight 47 kg. Operates at 15–30 °C and 20–80% humidity.
